Post subject: [SOLVED] d-u resulted in an (almost) unbootable system  PostPosted: 24.12.2015, 12:31

Hi, just did a d-u today, and now my computer stops booting with a hexdump.
Managed to start an old kernel (4.1.0.1 sysvinit).

Any help appreciated

dmesg has lots of entries loke the following:
      Code:

ACPI Warning: \_SB_.PCI0.PEG0.PEGP._DSM: Argument #4 type mismatch - Found [Buffer], ACPI requires [Package] (20150410/nsarguments-95)

I've added an image of the dump when boot-process dies - sorry for the poor quality of my mobile cam.

I've also noticed the following message appearing several times:
      Code:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/liblmdb.so.0 is not a symbolic link

liblmdb0 is purely cosmetic and affects everyone at the moment (#808785).

Regarding your kernel issue, I unfortunately can't decypher your photo (especially the top part is usually revealing), but I doubt that the ACPI warning has a direct connection to the problem (especially as it seems to be a problem with nouveau). Please also reveal some further details about your system.

While none of my own hardware is affected by this bug, I'm fairly confident that today's kernel update (4.3-12) fixes the problem - please test.

Thanks slh. It's high season for me now and I don't have the time to test before tomorrow.

Thanks to the new kernel system is working now again. Still some issues with X but not directly related to this thread.
