I am following instructions in factoid to install java but getting error.
icedtea-gcjplugin replaced by icedtea-plugin, but,
icedtea-plugin has unmet dependencies xulrunner-1.9.1 but it is not installable, E: Broken packages

Attempting install from init 3

There seems to be a transition on it's way. That's the trade off one has to make using Debian Unstable that sometimes transitions can make packages not installable.

For me it was the other way round: I did not want to use xulrunner-1.9.* anymore (security), so I let icedtea-plugins go. I'm using sun-java-* atm. But that's not everybody's first choice, because it's proprietary.

Enable contrib non-free sources for Debian, and apt-get install sun-java6-plugin.
Greetings,
Chris

Thanks for ultra-fast reply.
I installed sun-java6-*, which includes plugin, and now enjoying java on my new aptosid system.
Factoid needs a re-write.

icedtea is shipped with Aptosid as a default as non-free software is not included. If you want the non-free stuff just enable the non-free repo as noted above and you can then install sun java Smile

In my note I stated that I did just that.
The reason why factoid needs re-write is simply that icedtea does not work.

There is a long article on wikipedia about icedtea.
Iceweasel and Firefox both work, icedtea does not.
